A public service with a popular vocation that dresses the city of Valladolid with a touch of color and friendliness. Biki is another neighbor on the banks of the Pisuerga, a municipal bicycle-sharing service with dozens of stations spread throughout the city. In this project we have named the service, configured the aesthetics of its infrastructure, laid the foundations of its brand and taken the first steps in its dissemination.
NAMING
The naming is a simple play between the word “bici” and the proper name “Viki.” Biki works as name, as another neighbor in Valladolid, and its name deviates from what is usually a public service, seeking a friendly and straightforward empathy, more akin to the actual experience of riding a bike. Is there anything simpler and more enjoyable for getting around a city?
COLOR
Orange is the primary color as a way to make the service stand out within a visually complex public environment. In this sense, the mass of color works especially well and allows us to create a visible and recognizable mark on the street. For the less numerous electric bicycles, we establish a second color. A technical turquoise that fits within the color group of brands to which BIKI belongs.
A BRANDS SYSTEM
The public mobility company of Valladolid, MOVASA, creates its image by incorporating the former AUVASA (buses) along with the new services in pursuit of more comprehensive mobility. The project is part of a larger initiative that aims to reorganize all the brands of these different services under a unified style.
Vallabici, the former privately managed public bicycle service in Valladolid, is being replaced in favor of a new service with greater coverage and features. We were tasked with shaping the brand, from the naming to the promotional campaign. This is how BIKI was born.
BIKI is a project that goes far beyond what is usually a government assignment. The brand is designed as infrastructure, something that arrives and stays, but can also grow in different contexts.
