Tomoto

Idea An app with a biker spirit. Tomoto is a project by Juan Fran Jiménez, a digital roadbook reader that allows you to follow a trail offering a user experience and personalized configuration through this simple and efficient interface. In this project we addressed a brand, a name, an app and everything that surrounds the universe of Tomoto for its promotion in adventure motorcycling events.

NAMING
To start at the beginning is to call a spade a spade. A strong, resounding, rounded brand. A brand that sounds like a starting line, like an exhaust pipe, like a “rum rum”, like a wheel trotting over scree. A friendly, pleasant and unpretentious naming that leaves the brand ready to be smeared with mud.
APP DESIGN
Tomoto allows you to follow a track or route in an orienteering race (rally type). To follow the track we need a route map or roadbook. A sequencing of indications that guide us on a not always defined path. Before Tomoto, roadbook navigation relied on printed rolls of paper, manually advanced in mechanical roadbook holders. A traditional but limited system, vulnerable to the inclemency of the terrain and with no margin for real-time adjustments. In this project we have analyzed the use of these rolls and the performance of other applications that tried to solve this problem.

UX UI
From a previous study, we propose improvements in terms of usability, data display and customization of controls taking into account the loading of the app on different devices (mobile, tablet). One of the major contributions is the customized configuration of a dashboard of widgets where the user has tracks on distance traveled, distance to go, weather, running type, battery… even distance to the nearest bar.
